| There
are Chinese soldiers and police in civilian clothes everywhere. Sometimes people shout
slogans like Free Tibet at them. One day I was with my sister and the Chinese fired tear
gas into the people and shot at them. They were shooting all around the streets. We ran
and hid in a friends house. People were screaming. My eyes were sore and red with
the gas. Some bullets came through the door and walls, I was afraid because ordinary
people were being shot. My parents wanted me to go out of Tibet to India for safety and
for education. I did not have a
travel permit so I was smuggled out by hiding under blankets in the back of a truck, I hid
because the Chinese stopped us at checkpoints. But we got to Nepal and then to Dharamsala.
I am happy here because I can speak Tibetan and have lots of friends, I like learning all
the subjects at school I learn about our country and our religion. In Tibet, my parents
were not allowed to practice their religion I learn English, Hindi, Maths, Geography and
Social Science. When I finish at school I want to go back to Tibet to see my parents
again". |
