Tibet,
known mostly for its peaceful way of life and scenic mountains, was invaded by China over
fifty years ago.
Since then over one million
people have died in one of the longest and bloodiest campaigns of genocide that the world
has ever witnessed.
Some governments continue
to turn a blind eye as thousands of children become orphans and live as refugees.
Torture and intimidation are
daily facts of life for these gentle people caught up in a campaign to eradicate their
religion, nationality and culture.
While atrocities in Eastern
Europe, Africa and Asia command world attention, the plight of the Tibetan people is
largely forgotten. |
